After a memorable vacation in Africa, patchwork family Lauren and Jim have learned to live together – at least for a while. But in Blended 2, new challenges arise when the two families decide to travel together to a Colorado ski resort for Christmas.
From the hilarious clashes between the two generations – as the kids begin to grow up, fall in love and rebel – to Jim accidentally signing the whole family up for a “winter survival training camp”, the film continues a series of situations that are both funny and sad in the typical Adam Sandler style. Meanwhile, Lauren remains calm and affectionate, but this time she has to deal with a “ghost” from the past: her ex suddenly appears at the resort…
Blended 2 is not a groundbreaking film, but like the first part, it brings a sincere warmth and pleasant family laughter. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore still maintain their long-standing chemistry – their exchanges are still funny and emotional.
The second part expands the character line, focusing more on the children’s generation, especially the two teenage daughters – this makes the film more relatable to families going through a transition in their parent-child relationship.
Although the plot is somewhat predictable and sometimes a bit long-winded, Blended 2 still retains the spirit of the first part: a humorous, light-hearted family film, a bit silly but full of emotion.
Verdict:
If you loved Blended (2014), then this is a lovely reunion with old characters, new laughs, and an uplifting family spirit. Not a masterpiece, but a solid choice for the family to watch over the holidays.
