More than 50 years after the original sitcom took American television by storm, Sanford and Son officially returns to the big screen with a completely new look – funnier, more modern, and more chaotic than ever.
In this 2025 film version, Eddie Murphy transforms into Fred Sanford – the sour, cunning and not afraid of conflict old father. Next to him is Donald Glover as Lamont, the son who always tries to stay calm in the storm… named after his father. The two of them run a scrap yard in the Watts area of Los Angeles – where there seems to be nothing but scrap metal and hilarious arguments.
But things take an unexpected turn when the police suddenly arrive at the junkyard, suspecting that a missing person is… lying somewhere under the pile of junk. From here, Fred and Lamont are drawn into a dramatic investigation, interwoven with deception, silly conspiracies and a series of ironic situations that can only happen in the world of Sanford and Son.
