Story
When the mother of three sisters – an independent, reckless and somewhat eccentric woman – suddenly announces that she is getting married for the fourth time, their lives are forced to pause. Georgina (Scarlett Johansson) is a tough but lonely war correspondent; Victoria (Sienna Miller), a once-famous actress who is now struggling with her career and spirit; and Katherine (Emily Beecham), a serious and withdrawn teacher, is carrying many silent wounds.

They return to their childhood home in a sunny and foggy English countryside, not only to attend the wedding… but to face themselves, each other, and the past that has never been named.

Acting & Characters
The trio Johansson – Miller – Beecham shine in different ways: from Georgina’s proud vulnerability to Victoria’s hidden insecurities, and Katherine’s silent and profound gaze. Kristin Scott Thomas also leaves a strong impression as the unpredictable mother – a free, strong woman who makes the audience both love and hate.

Style & Emotions
With a “British” feel, the film is a subtle combination of gentle satirical humor and quiet, humane moments. There is no loud tragedy, no classic twist – but there is a sincere, gentle rhythm, sometimes making the audience feel silent because they see themselves somewhere.

The picturesque scenes in the English countryside, the natural light and the elegant costume design enhance the poetic quality of the film – like a cup of Earl Grey tea on a rainy afternoon: quiet but lingering.

My Mother’s Wedding is not about a perfect wedding, but about learning to let go of expectations, facing old wounds, and understanding that family – no matter how complicated – is always a place to return to.

✨ Conclusion
If you love films like The Family Stone, Little Women or About Time – where the relationships between sisters, mothers and children are explored in a subtle and sincere way – then My Mother’s Wedding is definitely a great choice.

A love song for femininity, for family memories, and for emotions that have never been expressed in words.

★ Rating: 4.5/5 – Touching, delicate, and very “British” beautiful
